I'm about 3 hours west of you, just outside of Pittsburgh. I lucked out when I bought my property and built my house. It's not perfect, but it suits my family and I well. The fireplace/oven combo has been working very well aside from the moisture issue. I hope to have a plan and get it taken care of before winter. The build was a lot of work and I had a lot of 'in field' engineering. A lot of the issues with this build revolve around the relationship between the size of the oven and the fireplace flue. The bigger the oven, the deeper the fireplace, the more issues you have with draw on the fireplace. Mine ended up being a decent compromise. The fireplace isn't too deep, although I do get some smoke out the front while the fire gets going, and the oven is big enough to cook as big a pizza as you can handle and I've had 10-500 gram loaves of bread loaded in at one time.
