The dome is now complete. What and exciting day! (I do sometimes feel that I am taking this oven building too seriously?) I was at home on my own so the ceremony was a private one and I had to set the camera with the timer and run up the ladder to pose with the keystone going in.

Very nice!!

Must have been a relief setting the key stone.

Have you put much thought into the chimney arch design?

Keep up the great work

The difference between a successful person and others is not the lack of strength, nor the lack of knowledge… but rather, the lack of will power.

From everyones comments on this board, I don't think you are Paul. I just started, but it's in my blood already.

Nice work Paul.

I started laying the bricks for the vertical part of the arch yesterday afternoon. I plan to cut the bricks in the vent arch with a rebate to take the weight of the chimney. I'm not sure who's WFO the oven below is but this is the style of brickwork around the chminey that I plan on building.

I confess that I am a pyromaniac!

The oven is no where near complete as I still need to do the vent arch, chimney, insulation and outer render but I could no longer resist the temptation of lighting a fire.

Over the last couple of weeks I have relented to pressure and completed a few other jobs around the house to reduce the jealousy my wife feels towards my oven and power tools because of the attention I have been giving them. We are off to the UK for 3 week over Christmas to visit family so nothing more will be done on my build but at least that means the dome will have over 6 weeks of curing in a hot Aussie summer.

Wow, the inside of your dome looks beautiful with the fire light. Nice workmanship, Paul.
