As part of our prep for the 4th of July bash we made some Mozzarella Cheese for those who are interested you can view the process on our blog...we took lots of photos!! The Red Dragon Cafe

Thanks Chef! All this talk about making mozz has got me wanting to try!

I just went and ordered stuff from cheesemaking.org!!!

Can you share the exact recipie you follow to make the cheese? It looks very straightforward based on your pictures.

Good for you Christo...I replied to your PM with the recipe for not only mozzarella but ricotta made with the left over whey. I would also reccomend the book Home made cheese making recipes for 75 homemade cheeses by Ricki Carrol - the woman you ordered the cheese making supplies from. Its the homemade cheese bible!!

My mother (italian) has been making fresh mozz since i was a kid.. we also can our own tomato's as well, makes for a much better sauce, There is nothing like it. the only problem is when you go to a restaurant and get the fresh mozz salad it generally doesnt compare. It's really not that hard if you can find the curd, many restaurant suppliers sell it and i get it now from a friend that owns a pizzeria. Good luck and enjoy
