He's still alive, but it's sad news nonetheless:

Chris Bianco no longer making pizzas

Wow. That's big news. We definitely wish him the best with his health -- and it sounds like he has some pretty trusty folks around him.

I am planning to be there next Thursday. Having been there before, I will have something to compare to. I will report back!

What a shame. I hope his health improves. Asthma can be a killer.

My wife and I were there in late December. We saw him prepping for open, but wasn't there when we were seated at 7. We were told he wasn't feeling well and went home early (this was before the announcement). The pizza was still incredible, but it's not the same not getting to say hi to Chris. He was the inspiration for our home oven after we moved from Phoenix and couldn't find anything comparable. I wish him all the best with his health, most important thing.

Well, I am back from Phoenix but ended up not going to Pizzaria Bianco. Just too crazy and hard to get in after flying. So we ended up at Quiessence - not a pizza place but spectacularly good food - rated by many as the best restaurant in Phoenix. Sorry I can't report on the status of Pizzaria Bianco!
