Photo Galleries are back! Instructions below.

Dear forum users,
Thank you for your patience with the Photo galleries. We've got your galleries online!
We have finished writing a custom script to migrate the PhotoPlog to vBulletin5’s albums.

Unfortunately V-Bulletin killed the "Photoplogs" in their software upgrade which was unforeseen and we're the first development group to have written a script for getting the galleries back... that said, it took some time to reverse engineer the code and get the albums to move over seamlessly!

Forum users will be able to access their “PhotoPlog” images through their user profile page by clicking on the “Media” tab.
They will also be able to browse other albums by going to the albums page. (On the forum site, there is a link in the black bar beside “Forums” to the albums.)

In order for users to create an album please follow the steps below.
1) Go to user profile page and click “Media”
2) Click Add Photos
3) Enter Photo Gallery Title in the first field
4) Click Upload or Select from Photo Album to add photos
5) Click Post
6) Once posted, the album will be created as a “Topic” on the albums page for the public to see. The topic title will be the “Photo Gallery Title” they created before uploading their photos.

To create this migration path we used vBulletin5’s default album structure. Unfortunately, it won’t work like the “PhotoPlog” but is an album/gallery component on the forum now.

  • Claypave Pizza Oven Kit - Australia

    Hi Forum,

Im going to start my first build next week and for the past few months have been busy reading, looking and reading some more.

Ive seen a few posts recommending Claypave (Brisbane, Australia) for supplies but has anyone tried their kit? The bricks look thick enough (100 mm) and an easy shape to build. I would also add an additional 100 mm of vermiculite to the top, sides and hearth.

What does the forum think of it for $1100 (+$75 delivery)? Could I do this cheaper/better buying everything separately. The big selling point for me is how easily and neatly the arch will go together.

    Cheers
    Jye

    Hi Jye

I have been looking at these as well. The pics are not very comprehensive and it appears not to be a dome shape. The slabs used as the floor of the oven look interesting and may be easier than using bricks. Being at about the same stage as you (deep in thought and indecision) I have moved to assembling the materials and building a '36" Tuscan' from scratch. I have the site pegged out now I need it to stop raining for long enough to start on a foundation!

Good luck with your preliminary ruminations. This forum is gold for newbies.

"A way to close off the chimney..."
The simplest way is to use a piece of kiln shelf or floor tile on top of the chimney. This is a common method used for kilns, but won't work if you have a chimney cap fitted. It is also dangerously hot.

        Hi Jye,

Don't invest your money in that, not only will you lose your money, also your sanity trying to make it efficiently. There are many better designs ovens, out there. If the arch was the selling point, that really tells me something.

The floor tiles appear to be those described in the product list as 300 x 300 x 50 Refractory Slabs. Cladek 134 (?) $13.50 ea. Might be cheaper and easier than firebricks but it doesn't appear to be installed on any sort of insulation layer. They do sell the tapered bricks separately if that is an attraction. I think I might plod along with the 'source the bits' method.

I have the slab materials to hand now and sadly that may need to wait a bit since we are to be 'blessed' with a little more rain the next couple of days.
          Cheers ......... Steve

The beauty of an oven of this configuration is that you do not have an entry to have to work past.

For $1100 if you only want the occasional pizza the price is right.

If on the other hand you want to get all anal like us lot about whos oven holds the heat and cooks longest without a further firing you will be wasting $1100.

Source your materials, good price or even secondhand, you could build a ripper Pompeii for that money, get a better oven and possibly change in your pocket. Tried and proven by many other members.
