Door clearance ?

  • Door clearance ?

    I am more or less finished my steel and glass door. It occurred that is is a pretty tight fit to the opening of the oven and things do expand when heated.

    Has anybody figured out the proper clearance between a steel door and the arch or bricks?

    I have a one inch lip all the way around. I gave myself 3/8 to 1/2 clearance and have no prob's.

      Unfortunately I ended up with about 1/2" lip ...

        1/4 to 3/8 should be fine. You don't want any binding when cool for certain, and the wider the overlap outside the door, the more leeway you have for gappage.
