New Forno Bravo Forum Feature

Forno Bravo Forum Community,

You will notice a new forum at the top of the main page called, "Ask Me Anything". This forum will be used for live one hour "Ask Me Anything" (AMA) sessions hosted by people who are knowledgeable in different areas pertaining to wood fired ovens. How it works:
- Each AMA will have a "sticky" thread where the community can post questions they would like answered during the live session. This will allow everyone to participate even if you can't be online for the live session. These questions will not be answered by the host until the live AMA; if you need an answer quickly, you should post it in the appropriate Forum area for the community to respond.
- Another thread will be posted for the live AMA. Registered users who are logged in during the live session can interact with the host by asking questions and receiving responses.
- The live thread will remain in the AMA forum to view after the session.

To kick off our AMA feature, we have invited author, chef and master bread maker and host of Pizza Quest, Peter Reinhart, to be our first host! Peter will be in the Forum on Monday, February 15th, from 7:00 - 8:00 pm EST. If you are unable to be online during the live session, you can post your questions in the sticky post. Peter will answer those questions during the live session on February 15th. You can view Peter's answers to your questions as well as what happened during the live session in the session thread.

We hope you enjoy this new feature! Please let us know if there is a topic that you'd like to have as an AMA and we'll look for a host!

    PhotoPlog - Error
    Above is a link to a picture of the inside of my dome. As you can see it is not great, not smooth and not a nice flowing curve.
    Is this vital to the efficiency of the oven?
    If it is can I render the inside of the dome? If so what with and to what thickness?
    Also what are the rules on door size?
    Hope to hear from you all soon.

    Cutting a smooth fitting top to the dome is a really fussy thing. It's not necessary at all. The only worry is that loose mortar will fall into the oven, but remember, your pizza in only in the oven for a minute or two at the most stable part of the temperature curve. What did you use for mortar?

    I wouldn't try to plaster over the inside of your oven, that seems like asking for trouble, besides being a really unpleasant job.

    Enjoy your oven, and deal with any problems as they arise.

    I'm afraid I don't understand your question about door rules.

    A quick picture hint: after you've uploaded your picture into the photoblog, if you copy the line in the first box that starts "IMG", you can copy it directly into your message, and the picture shows up, like this:

      Your dome doesn't look too much different from mine. I would not even think about rendering the inside. Go with what you have (mine seems to work OK).
      How would you render the inside? I can barely fit my arms through my door, let alone enough of my body to actually plaster anything.

        That was going to be a problem, I can't get any of me inside the oven, so how I was going to render it I don't know. teach my Six year old how to render!!.
        The door quwation. Is ther a ratio of oven size to door size? My oven burns and cooks well, but it is quite difficult to see what is going on and move stuff round because of the small opening.
