You have a good start. The slab, stand and structural slab are the parts that are the hardest work. Once you get to the actual oven build it is really fun. Good luck!

I have been waiting to work on the slab it has been rainy here the last couple of days, and looks like it might stay kinda rainy the next couple of days. Seems to like to rain on my days off!

Well its been awile since i have logged on here, but about have the oven finished. Had a couple of fires in it now, just some finishing touches and roof.. I have noticed that the back side of the brick up against the chimmy ( where the roof butts up against the brick gets pretty hot to the touch..anyone else see this on there's?

That part of the flue is pretty deeply buried in my oven, so I can't answer your question, the front stays pretty cool except right at the outer arch.

I like your full front chimney with the back roof configuration. What kind of shingles are you planning?

Thanks, I want to use the terra cotta round style roof tiles, but they are to expensive, so for now I am going to just use a imitation shake roof tile. but down the road if I can run across some I will change it out.

The chimmy will go up six total courses of brick and be capped off with red bullnose brick.
